Procedure
Each child involved in this classroom project designed a small sketch of what they thought the mural should look like. Each sketch was then studied carefully and the strongest aspects of it cut out. The cut out pieces were then collaged together and traced to complete the piece that you see above. Each child in the class will be able to see a part of their sketch in the final product.

As a class we discussed options for the negative space. Using a colour wheel the students narrowed down their selections. We then mixed small quantities of each colour and tested them on paper. The selection was made by consensus and a large jug of the paint was mixed up.
