You may also learn more at www.gscs.sk.ca We are rooted in faith, growing in knowledge, reaching out to transform the world!

LITTLE PEOPLE'S PRESCHOOL

LIttle People's Preschool is now accepting registration for 2012-2013. Please contact Heather Rhodes 220-2138, 382-7092, littlepeoplespreschool@ymail.com, or come to the classroom. We are hosting an Open House from 6 to 7 p.m. on March 22 (tomorrow). Drop by for a visit.

LENTEN ACTIVITIES

Each year during Lent, schools raise awareness by highlighting activities and sometimes this includes fundraising for Development and Peace and / or Mission initiatives. Many of these activities occur during Holy Week, the last week of school before the Easter break. At École Sister O’Brien School we have many Holy Week activities planned: Monday, April 2 - Poverty Meal (Soup broth and a bun) Students who wish to participate will eat in the gym as if it were a “soup kitchen”. The idea is to feel what it is like to be a little bit hungry. Students are asked to bring their own cup. Tuesday, April 3 – Coin Design – House League leaders will visit classrooms every day between now and April 3 to collect coins for their House. They will then collectively create a coin design to represent their House. Wednesday, April 4 – Hats and Sunglasses day. This is a favorite. For a $1 donation students can wear their favorite hat and sunglasses for the day. A talent show is often showcased during this time but this year we will be holding the talent show later in May thus keeping Holy Thursday holy with simply a liturgical celebration. All funds raised (including the talent show in May) will be forwarded to Fr. Roland Dubourt who is from Saskatoon and is doing mission work in Tanzania, Africa..

SCHOOL YEARBOOK

We are working on a school year book for this year (2011 – 2012) in partnership with Lifetouch Photography. It will be a beautiful, color yearbook with class pages and several activities pages highlighting some of the year’s activities and initiatives. It will sell for $26.00 per copy and parents are invited and encouraged to put in an order anytime. There is a sample at the front office showing what modern digital photography technology can do. We are excited about the possibilities of this lifetime memory. Please see Mme Aebig to order.

Some of these children live in orphanages and others live in group homes whose families are in financial need because of their child’s illness. During treatment, these children are in need of games and puzzles to occupy themselves. St. Angela is asking your school community to help in donating and collecting any gently used games or puzzles that you would like donate. Please drop them off at your school office by Monday April 30, 2012. We thank you for “Reaching Out to Transform Our World”.
