Investigating Peace

"Investigating Peace" is our challenge. Jesus calls us to be 'Peacemakers'. The question is, how do we go about doing this in a society that witnesses such destruction and violence? St. Mark students are exploring how peace is present in our school and how can we bring Jesus' message of peace to the community at large. The project extends the students knowledge to applications for peace around the world. Eight classrooms are involved in the project. We are using the knowledge gained to enhance our own concept of peace in our school. Students are making the transition from the written word to the acting word by the way we treat one another and the way we present ourselves.

The project involves many curricular areas in which the concepts were explored. The students are given the opportunity to research, explore, synthesize, and demonstrate their learning. Increasing skills in the use technology is demonstrated in all the activities presented.
