THE DOVE

    Do you wonder why you often see the laurel leaf with the peace dove? Perhaps it comes from roman history. Among Pagan Romans the laurel leaf was sacred to the sun. In the Christian sect, it came to symbolize the triumph of humanity. It is also called the “Noble Leaf.” Some doves are blue, which is linked to peace; However, Green is the Islamic color for peace.

    The Dove came upon Jesus when he was baptized. The Dove symbolizes Christ. The Dove represents the

Holy Spirit. When you get baptized the Holy Spirit is with you all your life.

Why is the dove a symbol of peace?

• Ian: I think that the Dove represents peace because it represents the Holy Spirit

• Morgan: I think the Dove represents a symbol of peace that is found throughout  Canada.

• Ashley: I think the dove represents a symbol of peace because it is said to be the Holy Spirit, and it is also called the peace crane and that is why I think the dove is a symbol of peace.

• Duane: I think the dove is a symbol of peace because it is white and sometimes Blue, and blue is a symbol of peace, however green is well known as the Islamic color of peace.

• Grayson: I think the dove is a symbol of peace because it is gentle.
