Internet Acceptable Use Policy
St.John School has a 26 machine computer lab that is accessible to all classrooms in the school. Being a school with a smaller population, our students get many more opportunities to use the computers than larger schools. The internet is a valuable resource for students to do assorted research projects as well as finding information on almost any topic that interest them.
Both the students and staff closely monitor our Internet usage at all times. Students are aware that some web sites are not suitable for children, and if one of those sites is accidentally opened, students are to immediately back out and report it to their teacher. Purposely opening a web site that is inappropriate will result in loss of computer privileges.
Chat rooms are also out of bounds to our students. Chat rooms are often frequented by individuals with less than honourable intentions and it is our policy to avoid any situations that might allow contact with these people.
Computers and internet are to be used during class time only unless supervised by a teacher after hours or at recess.
