In this section you will be using a Web authoring program called Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver is a very easy WYSIWYG (pronounced wizzy-wig, stands for what you see is what you get) program that allows you to insert graphics and text into pages as you create them. A WYSIWYG application is one that enables you to see on the display screen exactly what will appear when the document is printed. It also has the capability to allow you to do much more advanced web site development as you learn more about the program and how it works.

Throughout this tutorial you will find active tutorials that explain some procedures in more detail Click the projetor icons to view the tutorial associated with it. Follow each step in the order they are listed.

Why do we use dreamweaver in this class? Primarily because it is easy for the begginer to use while still allowing a more advanced user to add additional HTML code, and scripts . By using a stand alone program, you can create and upload webpages to your own web space without having to deal with the advertising, pop-ups, and design limitations associated with many free template driven webhosts. If you are working from home.

SAVING STUFF

Next you must prepare a file system to store and organize all your files such as pages graphics sounds etc.

GRAPHICS
It is important to keep you work organized. As you create your pages, you normally save them in the pages folder. This will be true for all except your starting or index page. The same is necessary for your graphics. You must save all your graphics to your graphics folder. You may choose to draw your own graphics or import them from a free clip art site like the ones listed below. YOU MUST NOT TAKE GRAPHICS THAT ARE COPYRIGHT PROTECTED . Therefore DO NOT use google image search, images found this way will be copyright protected.

NOTE:
On your credits page, you must provide links to the pages you saved graphics from.

Savings graphics varies from one site to another. In most cases it is simply a matter of placing your mouse cursor over the image you want, right clicking and then selecting Save Picture As... from the menu that appears. SHOW ME

Use one of the sites below, or perform a search for free clip art sites, and save some graphics to your graphics folder. You can also use Fireworks, Gimp, Flash, or other programs to create your own images.
