Suggested
activities
- Visual Basic
- Hand out and discuss project requirements worksheet.
- Students read the first tutorial on visual basic.
- You should discuss and review the Visual Basic
naming conventions worksheet. Students should understand that by naming
each object correctly and logically, they will avoid confusion later.
Also, in the real world of computer programming a number of programmers
will work on different parts of the same project. A standard in naming
insures that all project workers will be "speaking the same language"
- Students refer to the second Visual Basic tutorial.
The objective here is for students to become familiar with the VB interface
and program.
- Provide student with project planning sheet. Have
students refer to the first tutorial example of calculator project,
and naming conventions worksheet as they plan their projects Work with
students to insure that the project is planned fully before they begin
the third tutorial.
- Students refer to the third tutorial as they complete
their calculator projects.
-
Review marking rubric and assignment
expectations.
- Demonstrate proper file structure to save pages.
Main folder(Saved as their name): within main folder; graphics, pages,
and the main or index page.
-
Review the basics elements of
design and discuss how these will apply to the production of a web
site.
-
Demonstrate the tools available
in Composer. Stress the use of tables to organize and constrain elements
on the page. Have students open a favorite page in Netscape and use
the File-Edit Page command to see how pages are organized with tables
and nested tables.
-
Demonstrate: Fonts, setting
page properties, inserting images, creating links, creating bookmarks.
-
Students work through tutorial.
-
-

links and discuss.
-
Assign Essay (This assignment
can be assigned earlier in the course and completed outside
