Approximate instruction time: 8 hours
Objectives: 
  1. Students will understand the difference between the internet and the WWW.
  2. Students will demonstrate their understanding of the physical connectivity involved in the internet.
  3. Students will demonstrate their ability to use effective search techniques when searching on the WWW
  4. Students will demonstrate their knowledge of internet safety concerns and safe browsing practices.
  5. Students will demonstrate their ability to develop a presentation using PowerPoint.
  6. Students will demonstrate their understanding of the basic principles of design

Suggested activities
  1. Hand out and discuss internet search techniques. Assign internet search assignment.
  2. Review Internet WebQuest process and discuss expectations and marking rubric.
  3. Demonstrate how to save graphics, and multimedia. Stress importance of copyright protection and documentation of sources.
  4. Demonstrate how to create presentations with PowerPoint. Stress basic design principles and simplicity of content.
  5. Help students divide into appropriate heterogeneous groups of three so that all research topics are covered. Hand out and discuss organizational sheet.
  6. Students work on presentations.
  7. Allow students to do group presentation of completed PowerPoint presentation
