Approximate instruction time: 120 minutes

Objectives: 
  1. Students will understand the course objectives.
  2. Students will demonstrate knowledge of proper care of physical equipment and work stations.
  3. Students will demonstrate understanding of class expectations and school Acceptable Use Policy. 
  4. Students will improve keyboarding speed and demonstrate proper keyboarding technique.

Suggested activities
  1. Hand out and discuss;
      -Class Expectations
      -School's A.U.P
  2. Hand out and discuss course outline and objectives. Alternately, or in conjunction with this, refer to the student page Outline Overview.
  3. Refer to school  procedure for setting up and maintaining student accounts. 
    Check to verify that each student, can log on to the server, has a legitimate username and password and record them. 
  4. Demonstrate and explain the necessity to save files correctly and in a logical manner on the server.
  5. Begin the keyboarding section of the course by introducing students to a typing tutorial software ( All the Right Type, Mavis Beacon, etc.) Demonstrate and discuss proper Keyboarding Technique and attitude rating as referred to in supporting documents supplied by Saskatchewan Education. These documents should be introduced at the start of the term and students evaluated at least on time during the term.
