Macromedia Flash MX is a powerful tool for building animations and web page applications for online gaming and business. You will touch on a sample of some very basic tools in Flash as an introduction to this program.

The tutorials and the examples below are just that, examples. I encourage you to create animations and drawings of your own design to be submitted for evaluation.

These tutorials are self directed. this means you must read and follow directions carefully. Remember, read through the entire tutorial, then start again and proceed through the steps given.

It is important to know how you will be assessed on your projects before you begin. Read the guidelines and marking rubric for these three projects. Ask your teacher to clarify any uncertainties about project expectations.Use this project organization sheet as a guide to help you stay on task

Download a trial version of Flash MX here to do these assignments at home!

If you have problems: Ask three then me.

During this section you will be following some online tutorials and teacher demonstrations to create three Flash animations or "Tweens" similar to the ones below. Once you have completed these projects continue on to Page Two of Software Applications

You will later insert these animations into your completed Web Pages.

Step 1 an introductory tutorial

This tutorial shows some of the features and tools of Flash MX. It is great practice for following directions and an excellent starting point. You will need to save this file called assets to your account. you will use it during the tutorial.

Open both the tutorial and run Flash at the same time. You can stop and start the tutorial at any time by using the controls at the bottom.

Run the video in half size and stretch it to fit your screen. Click on the minimize or restore windows on the taskbar to switch between the tutorial and Flash

Step 2 Motion Tween

This tutorial will guide you through the process of creating a Motion Tween. When the tutorial pauses, stop and complete the step in your project. Before you start, think about the background color of your web page. the background of your web page should be the same as the background color of your Tween or the Tween wont look right. White always works good! Remember to save your work to your M drive regularly.
Set movie size to 400px X 150px

Step 3
Alpha Motion Tween
This tutorial will guide you through the process of creating an Alpha Motion Tween. An alpha tween changes the tint or luminosity (brightness of an object). Remember to save your work to your M drive regularly.
Set movie size to 500px X 200px
Step 4 Shape Tween
This tutorial will guide you through the process of creating shape Tween. Pause the tutorial as necessary as you complete your project. Shape tweens provide especially cool effects. Remember to save your work to your M drive regularly.
