Within an approximate 30 minute time span, a now infamous Tsunami destroyed the lives, homes, and countries of thousands of Southeast Asian families. Now, a global effort is being made to rebuild these countries and aid them in their rise after devastation. An invaluable part of this effort is the provision of educational restoration in terms of reconstruction and relief; as well, relief efforts encompass understanding the affects and implications of the Tsunami.

Who is this site for?
The site can be used not only by educators teaching student bodies of all ages, but also by students themselves, as well as curriculum developers and academic program teams. In particular, however, the goal of this site is to aid distance educators, in their Tsunami teachings. Educators worldwide are searching for both a useful base from which they can pull information, tools, resources and ideas to aid them in their teaching efforts.

What does this site offer?
There are three key site categories to aid educators in their search for knowledge: educational tools, an overview of current educational reconstruction efforts and a databank of online Tsunami-related resources.
Educational tools provide a brief overview of effective teaching tools and methodologies in Tsunami teachings. This category offers links to sites pertaining to Tsunami lesson plans as well as teaching aids and ideas. In addition to this category, there is a link to educational reconstruction efforts detailing current educational rebuilding endeavors. In this section, links are provided to sites that outline institutions contributing largely to educational reconstruction.
Furthermore, the site offers a databank of online Tsunami-related resources. This databank provides a collection of sites and pertinent resources that provides direction for educators and synthesizes current educational relief and reconstruction. The databank is divided into the categories of resources, relief efforts, and news accounts and personal stories. Within these site categories, there is a meticulous list of sorted educational resource tools and sites in addition to an inclusive list of sites correlating to the educational reconstruction of Tsunami affected countries. We hope to alleviate many of the “how’s” and “what’s” educators may have regarding educating on the Tsunami. Ultimately, this site proudly promotes the feasibility of distance education as a successful teaching forum for all countries.
