When learners reflect on their learning, they build a deeper understanding of the subject area. They are better prepared to use newly acquired skills and knowledge. SCCS provides different media which encourage students to reflect on and express their ideas and procedures. The variety of tools provides an incentive for students to reflect on and develop deeper knowledge.
Example
A teacher could have the students read the popular novel, The Pigman. The book tends to leave readers in a state of suspense. So, the teacher could have the students write a final chapter for the book and post it to the students web area. Each student in turn will read several other students' work. This will activitly force the students to reflect on what they read, what it meant to them, what they wrote, and what others wrote.
