SCCS provides students with alternative forms of communication. In particular, the school provides an array of communication tools: email, bulletin boards, and chat rooms which allow learners to discuss ideas and receive reactions from others.

Example

A teacher could invited guests from the other side of the planet to a students message or chat area. If it were not for technology, they wouldn't be able to communicate with the guest at all. Technology sometimes provides the only method for an individual to communicate. Mike Ward is an engineer, a physicist, who works for Intel Corporation. He has Lou Gehrig's disease, ALS, and is confined to a wheelchair. He communicates using a system called Eyegaze, where an infrared beam bounces off the movement in his eyes and enters the information into the computer. He can communicate quite effectively using the computer.
