TREATY
EDUCATION - GRADE FOUR
Objectives:
- to know that maps of the province provide a variety of information,
including the specific locations of Métis communities (Lebret,
Batoche, Ile-a-la Crosse and treaty areas.
- to explore historical and contemporary life on reserves
- to learn about the role of Métis translators in the treaty making
process.

Activities:
Using maps compare the map area of what Saskatchewan looked like
prior to the formation of the province (1905) and Saskatchewan today.
Compare reserve life to riverlot system that Métis people
lived on (see handout on riverlot system)
Discuss the reasons why reserves were introduced.
