Objectives:

  • To describe the principles of classification.
  • To recognize the characteristics and roles of monerans, protists, and fungi.
  • To examine bacterial and viral roles in disease.
  • To recognize the diversity of animals.
  • To describe the diversity of plants.

Description:

This unit will focus on the exploration of a wide variety of organisms. The first module will examine biological classification. In the second module, the monerans and viruses will be studied. The third module will focus on bacteria, viruses, and disease. Module four is an exploration of the kingdoms Protista and Fungi. In the fifth module the wide variety of animal life will be studied. Module six will explore the diversity of plants.

Evaluation:

This unit is worth 35% of your final mark in this course. The assignments to be submitted for evaluation will be outlined in each of the module overviews.
