Introduction:

In this module we will look at the characteristics of the main biomes of North America. We will also study the process of ecological succession and wrap up Unit 2 with the "Ecological News" assignment.

Lesson 1: Biomes of North America

The purpose of this lesson is to examine the various characteristics of biomes by focusing on the six major biomes of North America.

  • Activity: Characteristics of the major biomes. Option 1 or 2.
  • Activity: Constructing and Interpreting Climatograms and Reviewing the Biomes

Lesson 2: Ecological Succession

The purpose of this lesson is to study the process of ecological succession and identify ways that human activity can alter succession.

Lesson 3 : Ecology Review

The purpose of this lesson is to review some of the major concepts related to ecology and to complete the "Ecological News" assignment.
