Introduction:

In this module we will examine the various aspects of populations and communities.

Lesson 1: Populations

The purpose of this lesson is to examine the criteria used to define a population and to interpret information about populations by calculating population density and rates of change.

Lesson 2: Population Growth

The purpose of this lesson is to study characteristic growth patterns that occur within populations and to discuss some of the factors that affect population growth.

  • Assignment: Population graphing assignment. "Calculating the Size of a Small Mammal Population". [20 marks]

Lesson 3: Human Population

The purpose of this lesson is to examine human population growth. We will spend time analyzing statistical information, discussing cause and effect, and proposing methods of population control.

  • Assignment: Group assignment - Human population control proposal. [25 marks]
