I am not going to give people a step by step instruction on this one. But I will make suggestions, you can follow them if you wish or find your own way to achieve the goal.
The goal:
Display information on the front page or web links area in course content of your course that is updated automatically. Giving the students a glimpse at what is available on the internet.
Option 1: display someone else's feed on your site
Option 2: display your own blog feed on your site.
If you have no idea what I am talking about...use the fake student password and take a look at Information Processing 10 (weblinks area) or History 30 (homepage)
Now you have seen what is expected, lets get to it.
RSS - Really Simple Syndication
http://www.xul.fr/en-xml-rss.html
Kelli's email http://blog.scs.sk.ca/webtools/feed2js/build.php
This link is another (easy) way to add rss feeds to your course.
Essentially, when you find a blog you like, find the xml feed for it.
Copy and paste the web address in the URL area on the web page link above. You can then customize the feed however you like using the options listed on the page.
Click Preview feed to make sure it shows what you want. If yes, click Generate Javascript Copy and paste the code from the box it generates into an upper or lower text box on the main page of your course.
I know this is a quick outline of what to do, but if you come in when I do the group CIF session I would be happy to go through it with you!
Getting together as a group might make this one easier. Good luck you all.
