PRINCIPAL'S PEN

•  Welcome back! The 2008-2009 school year has begun. We are excited to catch up with returning families and welcome new families, staff and students to our St. George family. I am very excited to be a part of the St. George community and look forward to working with all of you. I would like to encourage all families to get involved with the school in whatever way works best for them: volunteering, stopping in to say “Hi” or becoming a part of our very active St. George School Community Council (CSCC). Your involvement is important in your child's educational experience. We are your partners in the education of your children.

•  St. George staff is looking forward to meeting parents/guardians at the Meet the Teacher Night on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008.

•  The mission of Catholic Education is to provide the students with a learning environment that will allow them to deepen their faith, strengthen their relationship with Jesus Christ, and allow them to be a witness and to have the opportunity to model the gospel values as taught by our Lord Jesus. As a Christian Catholic Community we must strive to be of service to one another so that we may allow God's kingdom to grow. The staff gladly accepts the privilege and are committed to assisting parents/guardians in providing quality Catholic Education to all students. Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions, concerns, or comments. Your thoughts are important to us.

•  Please watch for our regular newsletter that is sent home with the youngest child or only child of each family every second Tuesday. The newsletter and other information can be viewed on the St. George website: www.scs.sk.ca/geo

•  A Child Health Form, Parental Consent Form and Student Data Verification Form have been sent home with each child. Please complete the forms and have your child(ren) return them to their classroom teacher(s) by Tuesday, Sept. 9 th .

1. Students will eat their lunch at their own desk. (11:45 – 12:10). Guidelines are posted and have been reviewed with the students in each classroom.

2. Students are expected to clean up their desk and find a quiet activity in their classroom until it is time to go outside for playtime.

3. After lunch and weather permitting students are required to go outside and play (12:15 – 12:45 p.m.).

4. Students sometimes experience difficulty during the noon hour period. They will be reminded of the rules by staff on supervision.
